Zambia Cargo and Logistics Limited (ZCL) isa state-owned freight and logistics service provider belonging to the Government of Zambia. The company’s headquarters and main operations center are located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, close to the port. ZCL has additional facilities in Walvis Bay, Namibia, and an office in Ndola, Zambia.

Zambia Cargo & Logistics Ltd (ZCL) is seeking a qualified and experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the company’s logistics and freight operations. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient service delivery, streamlining processes, managing resources, and driving operational excellence across all departments.

Responsibilities for the Role The Operations Manager will undertake the following duties:

• Monitor and coordinate daily operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company policies.
• Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of logistics and transport activities.
• Ensure that all operational processes are executed smoothly and effectively.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to assess performance.
• Identify operational issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare reports on operational performance for the Director of Operations.
• Supervise and support operational staff, including coordinators and shift supervisors.
• Provide training and guidance to ensure staff are meeting performance standards.
• Address and resolve any staff-related issues or concerns.
• Analyze operational processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with other departments to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Ensure that operations comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor and enforce adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Conduct safety audits and address any safety concerns promptly.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in logistics or transportation.
• Experience in supervising operational staff and managing day-to-day operations.
